The Good News-Goodtime Band is located in north central Pennsylvania
in the Endless Mountains region. Going back to an earlier tradition
of participation in music, we don't consider ourselves to be a "concert"
band. We're a group of friends who enjoy playing together and leading
others to sing (or play) along, because we believe that music is most meaningful
when shared. We focus on enjoying the music, so everyone else can,
too. Our common belief is that God created music and made people
to make it and hear it-- that we are all wired for music. We take
the approach that everyone who comes to hear us IS, in fact, the band for
that day, whatever their age, ability, or interests. We especially
love helping young people to discover music and to handle our instruments.
We play vintage gospel music of all genres on acoustic instruments, some
played in non-traditional ways. Core members also lead the music
for a weekly “flannel shirt” gospel and communion service at St. Paul’s
Episcopal Church in Wellsboro, PA, at 7PM on Saturday nights, where most
of these songs were recorded in 2000.
